Singapore Orthodontic Braces FAQ (Part I)

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

What is orthodontic braces treatment?

Orthodontic braces treatment is a dental solution aimed at correcting crooked teeth and misaligned bites. Although general dentists may perform basic alignment and correction, orthodontists are highly trained specialists with deep expertise in correcting irregularities of the teeth.

During the initial consultation, the dentist/orthodontist will ask questions about the patient's health, conduct a clinical exam, take dental impressions and photos of the face and teeth and order x-rays of the face and mouth and head. These diagnostic procedures will enable the dentist/orthodontist to better understand the dental problem and formulate a treatment plan based on an analysis of the information.

Depending on severity and complexity, the treatment plan can range from a simple removable retainer to surgery and extraction. In most cases, orthodontic braces treatment are prescribed in order to straighten teeth and correct jaw problems.
